Meet The Spark Team
Brandon Burris
Hey y’all, I’m Brandon Burris, and I was born in Fayetteville, NC. But I grew up mostly in sunny Southern California! My passion for food started in high school when I became addicted to The Food Network. That, mixed with my proficiency in science, led me to graduate from The University of Nebraska-Lincoln, with a degree in Food Science and Technology.
As a professional Food Scientist, I always think about the customer experience, which is why I believe in Spark. I want everyone to have the opportunity to experience the joys of a jolt of caffeine at their own pace, wherever they are.
Brandon Fields
Hi, I’m Brandon Fields (High School best friends with Brandon Burris!), born and raised in Los Angeles, California! I have a passion for all things sports and working out. Professionally, I have a PhD in Materials Engineering and work as an engineer, and definitely overuse caffeine to get through both my studies, my workouts, and just many daily tasks.
With an engineering mindset applied to caffeinated foods, that’s actually how Spark was born! A caffeinated gummy we created to give clean, sustained energy without the crash, controlling exactly how much MG of caffeine you need! I combined my love for fitness, science, and (a little too much) caffeine to build something that works with your body, not against it.
I’m all about bridging the gap between science and wellness—and having a little fun doing it.

Shri Shankar
Hey everyone! My name is Shri Shankar, and I am a candy connoisseur, forced to be an engineer. I’ve always had a passion for sweet treats and lifting weights. So, it makes sense that I would help develop a candy that satiates both desires; to eat candy and be strong.
I’m working on finishing my PhD in Material Science and Engineering, researching material sustainability. I crave sustainability, so much that I’m even applying that to the things we consume. Hence my desire to develop a candy that can be consumed daily, with as few drawbacks as possible and added benefits.
